Why a sign painted sign was the only option?

Being a museum and being based in a listed building, the Museum of Carpet were keen to keep with methods which would have been used during the construction of the building. Finding traditional sign painters is hard these days, so the museums design agency were delighted when they stumbled upon us.

The museum advised us that they wanted a wall patch to be painted on side of the building so that it can be seen from the road…and they wanted it to be as large as possible. We didn’t fail to deliver! This wall patch is 3m high!

It was a time consuming job and our two operatives were on site for 6am and didn’t finish till 11pm. The had to outline the area to be painted in chalk and give it a base coat of white. They used a long life masonry  paint for this. To help speed up the drying time they used heat guns. Once that was dry they used a paper trace with charcoal on the reverse to outline the image before using our specialist signwriting paints to complete.
