Matrons Board the Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Hand Made Honours Board to Match the Existing which Date Back to the 1800’s
When The Birmingham Children’s Hospital moved from Five Ways, they regrettably lost an important part of their history – a Matrons Honours board.
Upon finding a list of all of the Matrons, they asked us if we could make them a new board which would match their existing boards.
Working with Birmingham Case and Cabinet Makers, we measured every millimetre of the existing boards, taking note of the letter height, the moulding and the frame so that between us we could recreate the missing board.
Birmingham Case and Cabinet Makers spent a week lovingly crafting the board before giving it to us to signwrite.
We then had to produce an electronic drawing of the board for the hospital to approve. Once they were happy with the overall design of the board, the hard work began.
A paper trace so that we could use chalk to outline every name with precision. This was used as an outline for us to begin sign painting. It took one Signwriter 8 hours to sign paint all of the names and the heading using One Shot Metalic Gold paint.
