Saint Kitchen
Sign Revamp for a Popular Coffee Shop
Revamp
Saint Kitchen, a popular coffee shop and eatery in Birmingham’s thriving Jewellery Quarter were in need of their temporary signage (vinyl lettering applied to the tiles) to be replaced.
Working with designers, Studio Able, Saint Kitchen already had a great design, they just needed our expertise in finding a signage solution. They wanted a bespoke built up rustic metal letters, but securing to tiles is never ideal…especially when what you want to fix to it is weighty.
We used one of our creative meetings to discuss the problem and find a high quality solution for this bespoke, custom hand made sign.
The Solution
We knew that the sign had to be manufactured from a light weight, long life and good quality UV stable material, so we decided on HDU (high density urethane.) This material has a 10 year life and has the same properties as wood, making it perfect for forming and spray-painting.
We used our CNC machine to route out the shape, we then primed and sanded back the shape before spray-painting it and giving it its desired distressed look.
The smaller text was laser cut from 5mm black acrylic.
As all components are light weight, we did not need to drill into the tiles and fix with screws. We were able to use a good quality (3M) VHB tape.
