Walsall Urgent Care Centre
Perfect Partners
Working with Key Construction, a company with a great deal of experience in working with the NHS, we were asked to manufacture and install signs for a new urgent healthcare centre in Walsall.
The health care signs had been designed by an architect and the materials specified. All we had to do was work from their drawings and site plans.
Wall-mounted Signs
The project involved the production of many door and directional healthcare signs. All of the health care signs were manufactured from aluminium and spray-painted in our work shop. We used a matte finish paint to reduce glare and so make the signs easier to read. The lettering was plotted from a 5 year white vinyl. The allows flexibility with the room use. Should the staff find that the room could be better suited for another purpose, we can easily go back and change the name.
Window Vinyls
Window vinyls were manufactured using a 5-7 year vinyl to ensure that the suns UV would not reduce the life of the graphic.
Although primarily required as a safety feature to prevent people from walking into the large windows, it also helped passers by to identify the building quickly as being a health centre.
Easy to Read
All signs need to comply with DDA regulations but this is even more important for healthcare signs. This was achieved on this project by using a good colour contrast, sans serif typeface and pictorials where appropriate.
Projecting Signs
Double sided projecting signs are the ideal solution for healthcare signs. Many health centres and clinics have long, narrow corridors making it hard to see signs mounted to the wall and doors. Projecting signs help the visitor to easily locate the room they are looking for.
These were manufactured using an extruded aluminium with a grey vinyl which was selected to match the grey paint used for the other signs.
External Signs
Key Construction had their own metal fabricator produce the large aluminium strays for the external signs. Allowing us to come to site and simply fit the graphics.
This was not easy due to the cold winter conditions, but the overall effect is very pleasing.
