Dubella Lounge
Internal Wall Art and Posh Illuminated Signs
Working with Studio Able, we were asked to help bring some colour to Dubellas newest flagship restaurant in the Barclaycard Arena.
Having worked with Studio Able on a few occasions, they know that we can do a lot of things that our competitors cannot. This includes sign painted wall art. The designers were keen to have two sets of sign painted typography onto tiles, as well as a feature wall full of colour. We were only too happy to help!
Working on a busy construction site is never easy, but we loved the chaos and set to work. Using a rather large paper trace, we outlined the design onto the feature wall, ensuring that the arrow really would point to the best seat in the house. We then had to apply a white base coat to these areas to ensure that the colours would be vibrant and match the colour pallet already established for Dubella. As the wall was coarse, we swapped our beloved sables for the harder hog hair and synthetic brushes. After a long day we had managed to complete the first wall.
On the second day, we made a start on the typography. This is always time consuming. We used a vinyl stencil so that we could apply the primer quickly. Once this had dried, we removed the stencil, got out our sables and began painting.
Whilst we were busy with the tiled typography, our other colleagues were busy installing the built up illuminated letters that we had made. These were formed from aluminium (to keep them light weight) and had opal acrylic faces to allow the LED’s to shine through.
